Donegal County Council and the Donegal Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) are inviting applications from Community groups in disadvantaged areas for funding under the Communities Activities Fund for running costs and/or Capital expenditure:
The Department of Rural and Community Affairs launched the Community Activities Fund, with a national allocation of €9 million. This fund will support community and voluntary groups, disadvantaged areas as follows:-
Launching the Scheme Minister Heather Humphries said :-
“This funding is about giving a helping hand to our local groups and clubs, which have continued to serve their community during COVID-19. These grants may be small in nature, but they will help thousands of community organisations, clubs, men’s and women’s sheds, youth centres and parish halls.“
Cllr Niamh Kennedy, Chairperson of Donegal LCDC, welcomed the Fund and encouraged all Community and Voluntary Groups in the County to apply stating:-
“Donegal LCDC acknowledge the difficulties groups have faced in meeting their running expenses throughout the Covid 19 Pandemic. This Scheme will assist groups to meet day to day expenses or upgrade or improve their facilities to allow them to continue or expand their invaluable work within their Communities”

The closing date for receipt of applications to the Scheme is 3pm on Thursday, 24th February 2022.
